Make Wise Tree Removal Decisions before a Hurricane

Each year, as the tropical cyclone season arrives, homeowners across the region are eyeing their trees and wondering how safely they will weather the season. Should the tree stay or should it go? For many homeowners, the visible and physical impact of the destruction of trees and property during storm events is enough to prompt them to engage in "chain saw backlash," or the unnecessary removal of perfectly good, sound trees. Be sure to keep recent photographs of your pet on hand if the need ever arises. Just email a digital version of the photograph to us along with a description of your lost pet and contact information. Send information via email HERE

Members who have found a stray pet or other item should send us a description along with contact information and we'll post that, too. Send information via email HERE

Prevent Your Dog from Getting Loose

We are sorry to report that a resident's pet poodle was run over and killed recently after it got loose from the backyard when the Entergy meter reader visited.

As a precaution to prevent this happening to you, there are a couple of things that can be done.

Keep your gates locked. If Entergy cannot get to your meter, the usage will be estimated until such time as a correct reading can be made.

I have always kept my backyard gates locked for security purposes, and for several years I mailed pre-printed reply postcards to Entergy each month after I recorded my meter readings on it. Last year, they installed an electronic meter that can be read from the street without the meter reader having to go into the backyard. ATMOS has also retrofitted gas meters with electronic devices in many neighborhoods.

DOG MISSING FROM BROADMOOR SEEN AT CORTANA MALL

(11/26/11) Duke went missing from my mother's house in Broadmoor on Saturday, November 26th. He is a Male Lab Mix - Age 6 - black with white spot on chest & around nose, some brindle areas on face, belly & legs - wore brown collar. We have searched everywhere within 3 miles of the house to no avail. He might have last been seen at Cortana Mall Saturday night (the other dog he was in the yard with was found there.) He is about 65 - 70lbs., hopefully wearing a brown collar, and loves jumping in the truck if you drop the tailgate. Please call with any information.

FOUND DOGS ON GOODWOOD NEAR CORA

(1/12/11) Early this afternoon I found 2 large dogs running around Goodwood near Cora. They are obviously good pals and are very friendly. Based on their temperment, I think they escaped from their yard nearby. No collars or tags. One is a young male German Shepherd or Shepherd mix. The other is yellow but I am not sure of the breed, something large and boxy. Please let me know if anyone is looking for them!

Thanks !

FOUND DOG

(12/6/11) Please see the attached photo of a lost dog that was found Broadmoor Elementary and Diane Avenue. She is currently here and I need to get her placed back at home as I have 2 male dogs and this is difficult. She appears to be a young female lab/ maybe pit mix, chocolate brown with white streak down the breast--very friendly, obviously knows indoors living.

Thanks to our supporters - Broadmoor UMC and Broadmoor HS

We want to thank the organizations that help to make our association's work possible year in and year out. The Broadmoor United Methodist Church has provided meeting space for us for many years and we very much appreciate there doing so! In 2007, we asked Broadmoor High School to let us use their courtyard for our Annual Junque Sale and they agreed. Thanks to their support, we were able to raise funds in 2007 for beautification projects, and in 2008 for replacing a damaged sign on Goodwood Boulevard.
