Safety & Security Tips & Hints

  • Lock your car doors. Always!  Virtually every car ‘break in’ in our and nearby neighborhoods happens to cars that have been left unlocked. There is a criminal element in every city that travels around just looking for an opportunity and some folks just make it easy for them. The criminal merely checks your car door, if it is unlocked they will steal your things, if locked - they just move on. Please lock your car and we probably will not read about things being stolen from your car.

  • Get a security system

  • Always lock your doors and windows

  • Get to know your neighbors

  • Install motion lights

  • DO NOT allow bushes to grow to a height where they cover your windows

  • Use plant deterrents. Thorny shrubs and bushes like holly or roses help thwart would-be burglars.

  • Leave a clear line of sight to windows or doors. Blocking these views leaves your home more vulnerable to break-ins.

  • DO NOT unlock or open your door to strangers, talk to them through the glass.

  • Lock all gates. It seems obvious, but it's still worth a mention. Keep front and back gates locked at all times.

  • Protect the back door. Many thieves try this less obvious point of entry first.
